The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (commonly known as
the R.C.I.A.) is the normal and “proven” process in which adults can become
full, active, participating members of the Roman Catholic Church.
While it is a process that allows adults to either become Catholic (Baptized in
to the Faith) or "complete" their Sacraments of Initiation (First Holy
Communion / Confirmation), the sessions are much more than that.
The time in and around the sessions is a time of "faith
journey". Participants are encouraged to explore their beliefs, learn
about what the Church teaches, examine how God is working in their lives and
become better acquainted with others through involvement in service within the
parish community.
The R.C.I.A. process is designed and intended for any of the
following:
 |
Anyone and everyone, Catholic or not, who wants to know
more about the teaching and traditions of the Roman Catholic faith. |
 |
Adults (18 years+) who have never been baptized into
any other Christian denomination, and who might consider being baptized
into the Catholic faith. |
 |
Adults (again 18 years+) who have been baptized in
another denomination and who wish to learn more about our Roman Catholic
faith and tradition. At the end of the process, they affirm a ritual “Profession
of Faith” as Roman Catholics, are confirmed and receive the Holy
Eucharist for the first time. |
 |
Adult Catholics who have never made their First
Communion and who wish to be confirmed. |
 |
Adult Catholics who have never been confirmed and wish
to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. |
Interested persons can leave their names / addresses with us
at the parish office, 734-9522. If you want us to make some kind of an
“inviting contact” to someone whom you know to be interested (but the person
you’re thinking of might be a little shy or bashful about stepping forward),
that invitation from us can be arranged!
The entire RCIA process has proved to be a powerful “renewal force” within
our parish during the past years.
Inquiry sessions are to be held Tuesday evenings, 7:00 -
9:00 p.m.
